Virginia striatula or has famous with name the Rough Earth Snake is a species of nonvenomous snake that is native to the southeastern of in United States, from Texas to Florida, as far north as Missouri and Virginia. Rough earth snake was first described by Carolus Linnaeus in year 1766, as Coluber striatulus.

Rough Earth Snake is a small, it has brown skin color, and it is unpatterned snake with lightly keeled scales (which gives it its common name), and has a light colored underside. Rought earth snakes do not typically grow beyond 10 inches in length, with 7 inches being average. And it is easily mistaken for the Smooth Earth Snake, Virginia valeriae, which it shares range and habitat.
